Leaving for Vacation

11:00 a.m., June 10, 2008--We uncharacteristically leave early for vacation. Our destination this year is Blue Fin Bay in Tofte, Minnesota. We have grown to love spending time at Blue Fin Bay, but especially me as it is a place where I can actually relax and enjoy a break from work.

I received a friendly beep/reminder on my cell phone.

I am quite content and relaxed as we head north on Hwy. 35 with narely a care in the world............



...............but I don't always transition very well into vacation wondering what I may have forgotten to do at home.....

....I'm pretty sure I turned the iron off (I actually can't even remember ironing recently, so I think I'm safe here)...

........we don't have a dog to let out, so I'm pretty sure I locked the back patio door......

...........hmmmmm, where did I leave my cell phone and wallet..........maybe I don't even want my cell phone on vacation.................

.........Kenzie. Check. Katie. Check. Jacob. Jacob? JACOB!!!!!!

Ok, so this falls under the "cute" category, but you never know what may develop when Katie and her cousin Teagan get going when we're out in restaurants!

Crashed

Days get pretty busy for a near three-year-old. Katie has "crashed" a couple of times recently taking impromtu naps. Although she looks peaceful, mom and dad remember that afternoon naps = extended bedtime!

Emergency Storm Shelter

You can't be too careful during a tornado warning. Jacob and Zack (next door neighbor) make their own emergency shelter in the basement during a recent tornado warning.

We plan on getting Jake a new bike this summer. Sometimes I just shake my head in wonder, until I remember that my kids take after their father. I can only hope that their mother's genes kick in at some point.

Family Rollerskating Party

For the second year in a row, some friends of ours (Joel and Lisa Anderson) reserve the local roller skating rink for a family roller skating activity to help celebrate some Anderson Family birthdays. This was Katie's first year skating who, several weeks later, still talks about "having fun skating with Daddy!"
